Her son was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder at the age of 6, and she found seeking the right autism treatment to help minimize his challenges a challenge in and of itself. Of utmost importance was finding a program to reduce his auditory processing delays. Since auditory processing is a critical cognitive skill Fast ForWord addresses, and a pervasive source of difficulties for ASD children, she & her husband turned to Gemm Learning and Fast ForWord. Based on the positive impact the program has made for him, she made a career change so that she could help others who seek the same changes for their children.

Sharon Scholze Sharon Scholze joined Gemm Learning in 2011 as an educational consultant. She was drawn to Gemm by her personal experience as a mother of a child with auditory processing difficulties, and a desire to help other families. Sharon was a Gemm client prior to joining our Gemm Learning.

Geoff Nixon Geoff Nixon is the founder of Gemm Learning. After a career in finance Geoff's interest turned to education in 2005 after seeing first hand the power of cognitive software when it helped his son. As he looked at the choices for his son, he saw information was hard to get, that up-front evaluations were traumatic and cost a fortune, and that most recommendations did not address the underlying issues. This was the spark for Gemm Learning, started in Westchester, NY in late 2005. Geoff runs Gemm Learning operations.

Accounting, billing and other finance related functions are handled by Anne McCool. After earning her CPA at Price Waterhouse Anne worked for various finance firms in New York before landing at Gemm. She is married to Geoff Nixon.

Our Certified In Center Coaches

Locally, we provide NY reading help at our Old Greenwich, CT center after school during the school year and for our Summer Intensives. These classes are monitored by Speech Pathology or Education majors, coaches who share one interest -- they love helping children! Our students love them because the coaches are young and cool to be with. And our parents love them because they are a motivating and nurturing influence in their child's life. We are a compelling alternative to Fairfield County tutoring, and our coaches make this happen.
