Gemm Learning Launches SAT Skills Program

- As a new school year begins, parents of high school students are seeking comprehensive programs to help their children master the SAT and gain acceptance into college. This year, the anxiety to perform well on the SAT test has reached an unprecedented level as the number of college applicants is expected to peak in 2009, with 3.2 million high school seniors expected to graduate according to a 2008 New York Times report.

To gain an edge in the increasingly competitive test taking process, students often enroll in SAT prep programs to become familiar with the test format and subjects that will be covered. To help high school students build a strong foundation of learning skills before taking the SAT, Gemm Learning has launched an SAT Skills package with a different twist that trains students to master test taking skills which allow them to utilize every ounce of smarts that they have.

Unlike other content-based programs, Gemm Learning's SAT Skills package is a two-part program that fine-tunes test taking and reading comprehension skills in the first part and provides a comprehensive eight-hour look at the SAT, including strategy and tactics for taking the test, in the second part.

Throughout the program, special attention is paid to improving students' comprehension and information processing speed, avoiding careless errors and improving focus. A section is also devoted to preparing for the essay
portion of the exam by focusing on critical thinking and abstract reasoning skills.
