These questions apply to two very different types of students, performing at very different levels, but actually they are both probing for the same underlying problem, namely a learning mechanism that is not performing as well as it could. Healthy underlying intelligence amy be trapped in a flawed or lacking learning system, leading to sub-par results.

For above grade level children not yet performing at their potential or who do not love reading the way their parents know they can, Gemm Learning offers a customized program to help children perform at their very best.

Recent studies confirm our own experience that above grade level children can make major gains. Learning ability is as strong as the weakest link. By strengthening a weakness -- and we all have them -- tremendous gains are possible. The software is adaptive, meaning it finds those weak links and strengthens them to their biological limit.

Our goals include:

  • Improve Reading Comprehension. A labored reading style will hold back comprehension as the brain is multi-tasking -- decoding and drawing meaning. We build automaticity in decoding that improves reading comprehension.

  • Learn to love reading. Many smart kids use high IQs to stitch together a flawed reading style that is allowing them to keep up but because it is labored, there is no potential to learn to love of reading. We automate decoding, making reading less exhausting and more rewarding.

  • Speed up auditory processing, strengthen working memory. Our program will help make sure processing speed and retention skills are working at your child's biological best.

  • Improve focus, attention stamina. Most children can benefit from an improved ability to stay engaged in class, to study independently and to read for longer periods. We tackle all three, as needed.
