Payton's Story

Payton came to Gemm Learning with auditory processing difficulties and a diagnosis of high functioning autism. This is the story of how Fast ForWord changed his world.

After a promising start with reading and at school, he had started to find both frustrating in about 1st grade. He started Fast ForWord early in third grade.

By making listening more automatic for him, Fast ForWord was able to take much of the exhaustion out of listening and reading. This change not only turned him around academically, it also slowed the word down for him socially. He had more processing time to hear the conversations and to pick up the nuances of personal interaction -- he quickly started to make new friends, turning recess into a time for adventure and games.
How Gemm targets auditory processing difficulties

He then progressed into the Fast ForWord reading series, where his learning gains have translated into improved reading fluency, reading comprehension and confidence.
