BrainWare Safari Results
Trial Results
Starting in 2005, BrainWare Safari has undergone numerous scientific trials involving children at varying levels of academic achievement. These are results published by Learning Enhancement Corporation.
Please note that BrainWare Safari trials have been quite small making the results more indicative than definitive.
Also they are focused mainly on "cognitive gains" -- the underlying skills that are being exercised. As a parent your interest is more in how these gains will impact "academic gains." The documented results from Safari are less compelling but this is to be expected. It takes a while for improved processing and memory to translate into better productivity at school and therefore stronger academic performance. Also, results vary per child.
Child Heritage Academy (two phase trial) in 2005
Average cognitive gains of 4.1 years, average for 45 students. Average academic gain was 1.1 years over the 11 week trial.
Glenwood School for Boys and Girls
For 2nd to 8th graders, 96 students. Grade equivalent gains in cognitive skills averaged 1.5 years in 2nd grade up to 3.0 years of gain for 7th graders. Academic gains were modest for 2nd graders up to 2.9 years of gain for 8th graders.
Edgar Evans Academy
28 4th and 5th grade boys with discipline problems. Average gain in intellectual age was 3.3 years, 6.0 years of cognitive improvement.
Autism Study
33 ASD students ages 5.5 to 16. Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism students had the best outcomes. About half of the students were able to make progress.
Difference In Results In Ages
For younger students the new skills take a while to translate into gains, while for older children the automaticity and comfort in learning translates more immediately as it helps make automatic what is already know but is not automatic.
