Our in center math program builds number sense by strengthening the cognitive skills required for math. At home, we use Fast ForWord with remote tutor support to provide math help for children.
Does Your Child Have a Math Problem?
An inability to develop automaticity in elementary math facts or to absorb basic math concepts is sometimes described as dyscalculia, dyslexia for math. For many children, math is the first real challenge to their learning mechanism. Number sense requires a number of cognitive abilities to function at a high level.
A mind that is occupied with laborious calculation of basic math facts will struggle to absorb higher level math concepts. Math fact automaticity is an essential math skill, as are cognitive skills such as working memory and sequencing.
Comprehensive Math Program
For elementary age children who are having difficulty with all aspects of math -- math facts, word problems, math concepts -- Gemm Learning offers a comprehensive approach:
Cognitive software that develops the fundamentals required for math -- processing, sequencing, working memory and higher level thinking and reasoning skills.
Math fact fluency, starting with addition, and then working through subtraction, multiplication and division.
Reading comprehension skills required for word problems.
We provide this math help using Fast ForWord and if needed, BrainWare Safari which works on memory and problem solving. Most students start on a protocol that includes our cognitive programs and math fact fluency, then progress according to individually developed plans all with the supervision of education professionals.

Math Fact Fluency
We build math fact fluency and automaticity with FASTT Math, a 12-15 minute a day math tutoring software program, 3-4 times a week for 2-4 months depending on your child's starting point and your goals. Children start with addition, subtraction, multiplication or division as needed.
