thinking Are they

Fast ForWord Literacy Program Demo
For Middle School and Older
Gemm middle and high school students and adults start with Fast ForWord Literacy which builds the cognitive skills required for reading and learning. For elementary age demo, click here, for reading fluency and comprehension demos click here.
To run a demo, click on an exercise icon, click "early level" or "late level." Students progress at their own speed. The exercises are simple but powerful, to maximize the intensity of exercise in each session. See explanations of what the exercises work on below the flash player.
Description of Literacy Exercises
Fast ForWord Literacy works on processing, memory, attention and sequencing -- at natural language speed.
Space Racer increases auditory processing speed. The student clicks up and down arrows to match sounds he hears. The sounds get shorter and closer together, forcing the brain to work faster, eventually reaching natural language speed.
Spin Master builds sound discrimination skills, first slowly, gradually building up to natural language speed.
Galaxy Goal works on impulsively and sustained attention. The idea is to improve listening accuracy, building the ability to hear the separate fragments of sound inside words more clearly, so that reading by decoding makes more sense.
Paint Match uses a matching sound memory game to build working memory and phonemic awareness.
Star Pics builds phonological awareness and vocabulary.
Stellar Stories uses stories read out loud, picture groupings and multi-step instruction exercise to improve listening comprehension and working memory.
All exercises work on attention skills. Because the program is adaptive, most students complete 1-2 or more exercises in just a few days, leaving them then to work on the skills that will help them the most.
