Greenwich Learning Center
Reading & Math With Tutor Support
Our in center services combine the tutor support of educational professionals with leading edge, science based programs that require constant monitoring making them suitable for in center service only.
Our traditional reading and learning offerings, Fast ForWord and BrainWare Safari, can generally be done at home with no problem, and because of the convenience that comes with working at home, this is always our first recommendation.
However, here are some exceptions, where our in center service may be a better choice:
Younger Children
From about 4th grade and higher, most children will work at home with minimal oversight. Children in elementary school and some older ones however, do require oversight. If your schedule does not allow for this oversight, dropping your child off at our center for the daily sessions may be a better option.
Intensive Programming: Achieving Multiple Goals
Many in center students work on cognitive, math and reading programs in each 60 or 90 minute session. This enables students to make progress on several fronts as opposed to at home protocols where these programs are typically done sequentially -- cognitive fundamentals first, then reading skills. This blended approach also benefits from a broader range of available programming.
Autism and Asperger's
Students on the spectrum benefit from the extra attention in center and the more structured, learning center environment. While our goal always is learning independence many autistic students appreciate the in center support of an educational professional and some of our very best success stories have come from in center autistic students.
PreK Reading and Language Programs
Gemm Learning has a number of in center programs aimed at helping a 4 year old prepare for kindergarten. This protocol is suitable for a child who is struggling with language and/or is not making sufficient progress in letter-sound recognition. If you are not sure if this applies to your pre K child, we have Early Reading tests to assess language and reading skills.

Homework Support
For a modest additional charge, a Gemm Learning educational professional will help your child with homework so that our important programs can fit into an otherwise challenging schedule. A typical routine would be for the student to spend an hour on our programs, and then receive assistance and oversight in a second hour to get through as much homework as possible. As an aside, many schools have been responsive to our parent requests to reduce homework while they are on our program.
