Gemm's Pre-K Reading Program

Beginning Reading & Learning Fundamentals

Pre-K is the ideal time to begin building a love for learning. Primarily aimed at the year before Kindergarten, Gemm's Pre-K reading program aims to strengthen the cognitive skills required to read and learn using Fast ForWord software and other proven cognitive programs

We offer pre-K tutoring services in center or at home, where we work on:

• Language processing skills, including improving listening skills and auditory processing . Learn more
  
  
• Phonemic awareness and letter sound recognition.
  
  
• Vocabulary and language structure.
  
  
• Learning skills, including the ability to sustain attention, to sequence and to retain key information in working memory.

Gemm's individualized approach builds a solid reading foundation.

If your child is a candidate for our services, we will help you make a program choice. Everyone has a two-week test-drive period within which they can cancel for no cost beyond a modest handling fee. Learn more

Personalized plan: After evaluating your child's reading readiness, we'll design a personalized plan that draws from a wide range of materials and programs that encourage a love of learning and meet his or her individual reading needs.

Motivational instruction and practice: Our tutoring is primarily computer-based, with engaging and adaptive programs that children love. We provide a wide range of incentives and rewards to reinforce the progress being made.

Proven Programs: We'll focus on the building blocks of reading including phonics, phonemic awareness, oral comprehension and vocabulary grade-level skills consistent with guidelines established by the National Institute for Literacy.

Early Intervention

Pre-empt problems in children who have even the slightest of delays in early childhood. Early intervention can make the difference between a successful education and one of playing catch-up. Many of the problems children encounter in the middle grades stem from an inefficient learning process that had not been challenged earlier - the problem was always there, it is just that the symptoms were not visible.

Depending on your child's level they may work on one or all of these:

• Fast ForWord Language Basics - learn mouse and basic auditory skills.

• Fast ForWord Reading Prep - introduces sounds as letters.
• Fast ForWord Language v2 - builds language processing skills and the fundamental cognitive abilities required to read and learn.
• The Listening Program -- accoustically adjusted classical music to stimulate auditory processing. Offered in center only.
• Headsprout -- works on early reading skills in a fun, interactive format. Offered in center only.
