Fast ForWord software rewires learning.
 - Cognitive and reading programs, with teacher support.
 - Based on the principles of neuroplasticity.
Is This Your Child?
Research shows that certain mental exercises can treat the cognitive delays behind many learning issues. Our program was designed with this discovery in mind.
Studies have confirmed that Fast ForWord can indeed create new neural circuits, helping reading, focus and learning efficiency. Protocols vary according to student need.
Reading Difficulties
Slow or labored reading? Weak reading comprehension? Reading resistance? Gemm Learning takes a two step approach. First, we treat the underlying causes of reading difficulty, and then we fill in individual reading skill gaps.
For younger readers our goal is fluency and a strong reading foundation that will ensure sound progress in later grades. For older students and adults, our primary goals are to make reading efficient -- easier and less exhausting -- and to build reading comprehension with metacognition, the ability to understand and think critically while reading.

Auditory Processing Disorder
Auditory processing disorder symptoms include difficulty following directions, inattentiveness, learning or reading difficulties. Our cognitive learning software tackles auditory processing difficulties directly with exercises that build listening skills -- processing speed and accuracy, memory and attention stamina -- and then reading skills if required.

Dyslexia
Almost all dyslexia is caused by an underlying language, memory or processing difficulty. Our primary program, Fast ForWord, used in-clinic by learning professionals nationwide, works directly on these cognitive skill gaps and then rebuilds reading fluency and comprehension skills.

Homework Frustration/Disappointing Grades
Slow or inaccurate reading and other learning inefficiencies can lead directly to long and laborious homework sessions and/or disappointing grades. Our learning programs build the processing, focus and working memory skills required for learning efficiency and independence.

Autism or Asperger's Syndrome
Our program, proven effective in building reading and learning skills, is one of the fastest growing treatments for Asperger's and autism in North America today. Its adaptive technology allows students to progress at their own pace with the intensity required to rewire learning.

Attention Deficits
Many focus issues are caused by inefficient processing that is at best, exhausting, and at worst, an impediment to accurate listening and reading. Our programs build processing skills to improve attention stamina.
How we help ADD
Language Difficulties or Delays
If your child is five years of age or older and has weak receptive (listening) or expressive (vocabulary, speech language structure, articulation) skills, Gemm Learning can help. It is important to address the underlying causes of language difficulties early, as weaknesses in language almost always carry over into reading problems later.

Adult Dyslexia
Most dyslexia is caused by underlying cognitive skill gaps that can be exercised and strengthened at any age. Many dyslexic adults can be helped to read faster, for longer periods and with better comprehension, by treating the underlying cognitive impediments to reading.

Traumatic Brain Injury
The brain is an amazing, self-organizing and self-healing organ that is capable of great change. Our program, Fast ForWord, has adaptive intensity that makes it well suited to rebuilding cognitive function in a wide range of stroke, accident, meningitis and other cases.

Executive Function
Executive function is a higher level thinking and planning skill that is often delayed in students with processing deficits. Our program helps automate fundamental processing and memory skills, to free up capacity for higher level skill development. It also exercises the sequencing, working memory and processing skills integral to executive functioning.

Learning Disabilities
Sometimes the difficulties are more generalized and harder to determine. A learning disability is often considered a severe difficulty, but it can also be described as a gap, a difference in achievement in one area of academics versus another. Depending on your child's profile, we may be able to help or offer alternatives.
